AccessionAid

AccessionAid is a web app (with optional mobile scanning) that streamlines intake for special collections: donations, purchases, and transfers. Staff capture minimal required fields, snap photos, and generate a consistent accession record with a clear chain-of-custody log. The AI component suggests controlled-vocabulary terms, flags likely duplicates, and proposes a basic arrangement outline based on similar past accessions—while keeping humans in charge. It exports clean EAD/MARC-ready metadata and produces printable box/folder labels. This is not a full collection management system; it’s an intake accelerator that reduces backlog and prevents “mystery boxes” from sitting unprocessed for years. Realistically, adoption hinges on fitting into existing workflows (ArchivesSpace, Alma, AtoM) rather than replacing them, and on being simple enough for student workers to use correctly.
