AdviceGap
AdviceGap is a web + mobile app (traditional + AI) that helps individuals decide whether to invest DIY or hire an advisor—based on their actual situation, not generic rules. Users connect accounts (or enter basics), then answer a short, structured questionnaire about complexity (tax brackets, stock options, multiple accounts, debt, dependents, time availability, behavioral risks). The app estimates the “advisor value threshold”: how much an advisor would need to improve outcomes to justify their all-in cost (fees, fund expenses, taxes, opportunity cost). It also flags where advisors realistically add value (tax planning, estate, insurance, retirement drawdown) versus where they often don’t (simple accumulation with broad index funds). AI generates a plain-English report and a checklist of questions to ask an advisor, plus a DIY action plan if the user stays self-directed. It’s not a robo-advisor; it’s a decision tool with receipts.
