AllergenAtlas

AllergenAtlas helps people safely use specialty ingredients (miso, gochujang, tahini, fish sauce, spice blends, flours, additives) by turning confusing labels into clear, actionable guidance. Scan a barcode or ingredient list and get a structured breakdown: allergens (including hidden sources), gluten risk, cross-contamination flags, dietary fit (vegan, kosher, low-FODMAP), and common substitute options that preserve flavor. It also explains what the ingredient actually does in a recipe (thickener, emulsifier, ferment, acid) so users can swap intelligently. The app is realistic about uncertainty: it highlights when data is incomplete, when manufacturer verification is needed, and when “may contain” statements make something unsafe. Users can build a personal safety profile and share a “safe list” with family. This is a mobile app with a lightweight web dashboard for managing profiles and exporting lists. It’s an AI + traditional app combination.
