AllerGuard

AllerGuard is a mobile app (with a lightweight web dashboard for restaurants) that helps people with food allergies and intolerances order safely. Users build a verified allergy profile (e.g., peanuts, sesame, dairy, gluten, sulfites) and set risk preferences (cross-contamination tolerance, “may contain” rules). When scanning a menu QR, photo, or PDF, the app flags risky dishes, highlights hidden ingredients, and generates a short, polite “kitchen note” to show staff. Restaurants can optionally maintain an ingredient matrix and prep notes, reducing back-and-forth and liability anxiety. This is an AI-assisted app, but it’s designed to be conservative: it defaults to “unknown = risky,” cites what it read, and asks for confirmation when uncertain. The goal isn’t foodie discovery—it’s fewer scary surprises and faster, clearer communication at the table.
