AltLens
AltLens is a web app + browser extension that audits image accessibility at scale by scoring alt text usefulness, not merely whether an alt attribute exists. It crawls selected pages (or a sitemap), extracts images and surrounding context (captions, headings, links), and flags likely-bad patterns: keyword stuffing, “image of…”, missing functional intent for linked icons, decorative images that should be empty alt, and redundant alt that repeats adjacent text. It generates a prioritized backlog with quick fixes, suggested rewrites, and a “confidence” indicator so teams know what to trust and what to review manually. Exports to Jira/Linear and produces an audit report suitable for compliance documentation. It’s realistic: it won’t guarantee legal compliance, and it will require human review for nuanced content, but it can cut the time spent finding and triaging alt issues dramatically.
