APIChaperone

APIChaperone is a web app (with optional CLI) that continuously monitors third‑party APIs your product depends on and alerts you when something changes that could break you. It runs scheduled contract checks against your real integration flows (auth, pagination, error codes, rate limits) and compares responses to a saved baseline. When a provider silently changes fields, deprecates endpoints, alters validation rules, or tightens rate limits, you get an actionable diff, severity score, and suggested mitigation steps. It also tracks provider status pages and incident history, correlating outages with your own error spikes via webhook ingestion. This is not a generic uptime monitor; it is dependency-aware testing for external APIs. Expect some setup work: you must define key requests and provide safe test credentials, and not every API is test-friendly. But for teams with revenue tied to integrations, it prevents expensive surprises.
