BackcastHQ
BackcastHQ is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) for teams that need to plan backwards from a defined future outcome. Users set a target state (e.g., “SOC2 Type II by Dec 15” or “Launch v2 to 10k users by Q3”), then the app guides them through structured backcasting: key milestones, prerequisite assumptions, dependencies, risk buffers, and weekly deliverables. It integrates with Jira/Linear/Asana to push generated milestones as real tasks, and it tracks drift: when upstream tasks slip, it automatically recalculates downstream dates and highlights the “critical chain” items. An AI copilot helps draft milestone trees, identify missing prerequisites, and propose realistic buffers based on similar plans and team velocity—while keeping humans in control. The product is honest about uncertainty: it forces explicit assumptions and confidence levels instead of pretending forecasts are precise.
