BackhaulBuddy
BackhaulBuddy is a mobile + web app that continuously measures real-world internet quality in rural homes and small businesses, then turns the data into actionable proof. It runs lightweight tests (latency, jitter, packet loss, DNS failures, and throughput) and correlates them with power events and weather to separate “ISP problem” from “your Wi‑Fi problem.” The app generates one-click, timestamped outage reports you can send to your ISP, state broadband office, or grant program, and it estimates SLA/refund eligibility based on your plan. For communities, it can aggregate anonymized results into a local reliability dashboard to help co-ops and municipalities negotiate better backhaul or justify upgrades. This is not a magic connectivity fix; it’s a leverage tool that makes poor service measurable, comparable, and harder to dismiss.
