BackroomMap

BackroomMap is a mobile + web app that helps store teams locate the right item quickly and fulfill omnichannel orders (BOPIS, ship-from-store) without wasting time hunting through backrooms. Staff scan a SKU or order, and the app shows the most likely location path: receiving area, overstock bay, rack/shelf zone, or last-known cart/tote. It uses lightweight “location labels” (QR/NFC stickers) and quick scan events to build a living map of where inventory tends to end up, even when the core inventory system is imperfect. Managers get a web dashboard highlighting chronic “lost item” zones, high-variance SKUs, and stores with repeated pick failures. This is not a full inventory system replacement; it’s a pragmatic layer that reduces pick time and cancellations by improving item findability and accountability in the messy real world of store operations.
