BackupSentry
BackupSentry is a web app (with an optional lightweight agent) that continuously validates database backups by performing automated, scheduled restore drills in isolated ephemeral environments. Instead of trusting “backup succeeded” logs, it restores a recent snapshot, runs integrity checks, schema diffing, and a small suite of user-defined smoke queries, then produces a pass/fail report with evidence. It supports common stacks (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB) and popular backup sources (S3/GCS/Azure Blob, pg_dump, physical base backups, vendor snapshots). Alerts go to Slack/PagerDuty with clear next steps, not vague errors. The product focuses on boring reliability: repeatable restore pipelines, audit trails for compliance, and simple runbooks. It’s not a full backup platform; it’s the missing verification layer that most teams skip until an incident proves they shouldn’t have.
