BadBlocker

BadBlocker is a desktop app (Windows/macOS/Linux) that continuously monitors storage devices (HDDs, SSDs, external USB drives, NAS volumes where accessible) and turns messy SMART/NVMe telemetry into clear, actionable risk signals. It runs lightweight background checks, tracks trends (reallocated sectors, media errors, CRC errors, wear leveling, temperature spikes), and alerts you when a drive is degrading—not just when it’s already failing. The app includes a guided “safe exit” workflow: verify backups, prioritize critical folders, run a non-destructive surface scan, and generate an RMA-ready health report for warranty claims. It also helps diagnose common real-world issues like bad SATA cables, flaky USB enclosures, and overheating, which often masquerade as “dying drives.” This is a traditional app with a small AI component for anomaly detection and failure-risk scoring based on historical patterns.
