BailoutPing

BailoutPing is a mobile app (iOS/Android) that helps outdoor athletes create a simple, reliable emergency plan that still works when there’s no signal. Before a hike, climb, ski tour, or paddling trip, you set a route area, time windows, and a small “if I’m overdue, do this” checklist with key contacts. The app generates a shareable trip card (QR + link) for friends/family and caches it offline on both ends. During the trip, it logs low-power breadcrumb points and can emit an “I’m OK” or “Need help” status via whatever connectivity is available (SMS when possible, satellite messenger integration if you have one, or delayed send when service returns). It’s not a replacement for a PLB; it’s a practical layer that reduces confusion, speeds up decision-making, and prevents the common failure of ‘nobody knew the plan.’
