BallotBrief

BallotBrief is a web + mobile app that turns confusing referendum/initiative texts into short, plain-language briefs with clickable citations. It ingests official ballot language, fiscal notes, court summaries, and top arguments from both sides, then produces: (1) a 60-second summary, (2) key tradeoffs, (3) who funds/supports/opposes, and (4) “what changes tomorrow” scenarios. It’s an AI-assisted product, but every claim must link to a primary source; anything uncited is flagged as “analysis” and kept separate. Users can compare measures side-by-side, set reminders for deadlines, and export a one-page brief to share. The app is realistic because it focuses on a narrow, repeatable workflow (measure briefs) rather than trying to “fix democracy.” Monetization is B2B (newsrooms, civic orgs, universities) plus limited consumer subscriptions for premium alerts and local coverage.
