BankShift
BankShift is a mobile + web app for monitoring riverbank erosion and sediment deposition using repeatable photo stations and simple GIS overlays. Field users capture geotagged, compass-aligned photos and a short site form (bank material, vegetation, recent flows). The web dashboard automatically aligns time-series images, lets users trace the bankline, and calculates retreat/advance rates and approximate volume change between surveys. It also pulls public rainfall and river gauge data to annotate events, helping teams link change to storms and high-flow periods. This is not a magic “predict erosion” tool; it’s a practical measurement workflow that replaces messy spreadsheets, inconsistent photos, and ad-hoc reporting. Outputs include regulator-friendly PDFs, CSV exports, and map layers for QGIS/ArcGIS. The MVP focuses on repeatability, audit trails, and defensible change metrics rather than flashy modeling.
