BasisBuddy is a mobile + web AI-assisted investing companion that tracks cost basis and tax lots across brokerages so individuals can see their real, after-tax performance. Users connect accounts, and the app normalizes messy transaction histories (splits, mergers, DRIPs, options assignments, wash sales) into a clean ledger. It then shows “sell impact” previews: estimated capital gains, holding-period breakdown, and how different lot-selection methods (FIFO, LIFO, SpecID) change the tax bill. The app exports CPA-ready reports and flags missing or suspicious cost basis data that brokers often get wrong—especially after transfers. This is not a trading app; it’s a clarity app for people who already invest but don’t actually know what they’ll owe. Monetization: subscription plus a one-time “tax pack” add-on during filing season.
