BatchCheck

BatchCheck is a mobile app (with a lightweight web dashboard) that helps shoppers verify cosmetics and personal care products by scanning barcodes/QR codes and checking batch/lot numbers against brand-published formats, community-reported issues, and retailer listing consistency. It flags common red flags: mismatched lot codes, suspicious seller history, unusually old production dates, and packaging inconsistencies captured via quick photo prompts. This is not a magic “authenticator”—it’s a risk scoring tool that helps you decide whether to keep, return, or report a product. Users can save receipts, track where they bought items, and get recall/alert notifications for specific SKUs or batches. Brands and retailers can optionally provide official batch validation endpoints to improve accuracy, but the app still works without them using heuristic checks and aggregated reports. Monetization: freemium with a paid tier for advanced alerts, seller risk profiles, and bulk scanning.
