BeamBudget
BeamBudget is a mobile + web app that monitors and forecasts satellite internet data usage and cost risk across a household, RV, or small site. It connects to your router (via local network polling and optional SNMP) and runs lightweight traffic classification to estimate which devices and apps are burning bandwidth (streaming, cloud backups, game downloads). Users set a monthly data cap, “quiet hours,” and priority rules; the app then sends alerts before you hit throttling/FAP thresholds and can automatically apply router policies (rate limits, blocklists, QoS presets) to keep critical traffic usable. It also includes a simple “satellite-friendly mode” checklist (DNS caching, update scheduling, video bitrate defaults) with one-tap enforcement where supported. This is not magic: it won’t fix bad signal or congestion, but it will prevent self-inflicted slowdowns and bill shock—common in satellite setups.
