BeetleBench

BeetleBench is a mobile + web app for running repeatable beetle (Coleoptera) surveys without turning every user into a taxonomist. It guides users through standardized protocols (pitfall traps, light sheets, deadwood checks), records effort (time, trap nights, weather), and produces comparable datasets that land managers and researchers can actually use. Instead of promising perfect species ID, it focuses on reliable morphogroups, photo vouchers, and confidence scoring, with optional expert review workflows. The app outputs clean CSV/GBIF-ready exports, site dashboards, and season-to-season trend charts. It’s built for conservation projects, forestry monitoring, and university field courses where consistency matters more than flashy identification. Realistically, the value is in reducing messy data and making monitoring repeatable, not in “AI magic.”
