BenchBuddy is a mobile + web app that helps amateur teams and pickup groups fill roster gaps fast. When someone cancels, captains post a “need 1-2 players” request with skill level, position, location, start time, and any league rules. Nearby players who match get notified and can claim the spot with one tap. The app tracks reliability with a simple attendance score and lightweight verification (phone + optional ID check) to reduce flakes. It also supports recurring availability (“I can play Tuesdays after 6”), shared team chat, and quick split payments for field fees. This is not trying to run your whole league; it focuses on the single painful moment: you’re short players and the game starts soon. Monetization: subscription for captains/teams, small service fee on payments, and optional “priority alerts” for players.
