BidCompare is a web app (with optional mobile companion) that helps homeowners and designers compare renovation quotes apples-to-apples. Users upload PDFs, emails, or spreadsheets from contractors; the app extracts line items, quantities, allowances, exclusions, and timelines, then normalizes everything into a consistent cost code structure (demo, framing, MEP, finishes, etc.). It flags missing scope (e.g., no waterproofing, no disposal), suspicious allowances, and vague language that often leads to change orders. It also generates a “clarification list” to send back to each bidder, so you can force comparable revisions before signing. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI handles document parsing and scope gap detection, while the core value is the structured comparison workflow and audit trail. It won’t magically prevent bad contractors, but it will reduce expensive misunderstandings and make bid selection less guessy.
