BillBrief

BillBrief is a web + mobile app that turns local and state legislation into short, readable briefs with clear “what changes, who pays, who benefits, who loses” sections. Users follow jurisdictions and topics (housing, policing, schools) and get alerts when a bill moves, when hearings are scheduled, and when public comments are open. The app links every summary back to primary sources (bill text, fiscal notes, committee videos) and highlights what changed between versions using a diff view. It also offers a one-click “comment builder” that helps users draft a respectful, fact-based message to the right committee inbox—without pretending to be a lawyer. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI accelerates summarization and change detection, while humans and transparency features keep it credible. The product is designed to reduce the time barrier to meaningful participation.
