BillShield is a mobile + web app that helps people reduce medical debt by catching billing errors and pushing disputes through faster. Users upload PDFs or photos of bills and EOBs; the app extracts line items, flags common issues (duplicate charges, out-of-network surprises, missing insurance adjustments, coding mismatches), and generates dispute letters and call scripts tailored to the provider and insurer. It also tracks deadlines, keeps a timeline of who said what, and stores documentation so users can escalate to a supervisor, state insurance department, or hospital financial assistance office. This is not a magic “erase your debt” product—most savings come from fixing mistakes, negotiating, and applying for assistance. The app focuses on practical execution: reminders, templates, and a clear checklist that reduces the overwhelm and time cost that causes people to give up.
