BioAcoustID

BioAcoustID is a mobile + web AI app that identifies animals from short audio clips—bird calls, frog choruses, insect stridulation, and common mammal vocalizations. Users record 5–20 seconds, the app cleans noise, detects call segments, and returns top matches with confidence, seasonality, and a “similar sounds” comparison. It’s designed for field conditions where photos fail: night surveys, dense vegetation, fast-moving wildlife, or distant calls. The web dashboard lets researchers and conservation groups manage projects, validate detections, export labeled datasets, and generate simple presence/absence reports by location and time. Realistically, it won’t be perfect: accuracy will vary by region and species, and it will struggle with overlapping calls and heavy wind. The MVP should focus on a few high-demand taxa and geographies, then expand via partnerships and curated training data.
