BistroBudget is a mobile + web app that helps home cooks make French dishes with realistic grocery budgets and minimal waste. You pick a weekly spend limit, household size, and skill level; the app generates a French-leaning plan (bistro staples, regional dishes, sauces) that reuses overlapping ingredients across recipes so you don’t buy a whole jar of something for one teaspoon. It includes a smart shopping list that groups by store section, suggests cheaper substitutions that still taste “French,” and flags ingredients that commonly go bad. It also offers “use-it-up” recipes for leftovers (stale baguette, extra crème fraîche, herbs). This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI helps optimize plans and substitutions, but recipes are curated and tested to avoid hallucinated steps.
