BladeSense

BladeSense is a web + mobile app that helps wind farm operators detect early blade damage and leading-edge erosion using low-cost drone imagery and simple field workflows. Instead of expensive, slow manual inspections or high-end proprietary systems, technicians capture standardized photos during routine drone flights, upload them, and get an AI-assisted defect map with severity scoring and recommended next actions (monitor, repair, or shut down). The app tracks each turbine’s blade history, links findings to weather and production dips, and generates inspection reports that match common O&M documentation needs. It’s realistic: accuracy won’t be perfect, so the product is designed to reduce time-to-triage and prioritize which turbines need expert review—not to replace certified inspectors. Over time, the dataset improves per site, making the tool more useful with repeated use.
