BlockCaptain is a mobile + web app that helps neighbors coordinate the boring but essential stuff: package pickups, trash-day reminders, lost pets, tool sharing, and quick safety check-ins. Instead of trying to be another social network, it’s a task-and-trust layer for a small geographic area (one building, street, or block). Residents join via address verification and a simple “host” role (super, HOA volunteer, or block captain) to set up recurring needs and micro-volunteering shifts. Posts are structured templates (e.g., “Need: ladder for 2 hours,” “Found: keys,” “Watch: suspicious activity”) to reduce drama and noise. A reputation system is based on completed commitments, not likes. Monetization is realistic: building/HOA subscriptions and optional local sponsor slots for vetted services (plumber, locksmith), not intrusive ads.
