BlockTrace is a web + mobile app that enforces end-to-end chain-of-custody for pathology specimens, from accessioning to grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and sign-out. It uses barcode/QR scanning at every handoff, time-stamped checklists, and exception workflows to catch mismatches (wrong patient, wrong block, wrong slide) before they reach the pathologist. The system generates CAP/CLIA-friendly audit trails, discrepancy reports, and training feedback loops for recurring errors. This is not a LIS replacement; it integrates with common LIS systems via HL7/FHIR where available, or via CSV/API exports when not. The MVP focuses on “last-mile” operational safety: real-time alerts, accountability, and measurable reduction in rework and amended reports. Expect sales cycles and integration friction; the value is strongest for labs with high volume and multiple technicians per case.
