BOMGuard

BOMGuard is a web + desktop companion app that audits Bills of Materials and part libraries for industrial design and hardware teams before release. It ingests BOMs from CSV/Excel/PLM exports and flags the boring, expensive errors: duplicate parts with different MPNs, obsolete components, inconsistent units, missing tolerances/finishes, mismatched fasteners, and supplier lead-time risks. It also standardizes naming conventions and generates a clean “release-ready” BOM package for purchasing and manufacturing. This is a combination traditional + AI app: rules-based checks handle deterministic issues, while an LLM helps map messy descriptions to normalized attributes and suggests likely alternates (with confidence scores). The product is intentionally narrow: it doesn’t try to be a full PLM or CAD replacement. It aims to save teams from ECO churn, last-minute sourcing fires, and costly prototype rework.
