BOMGuard
BOMGuard is a web app for open-hardware teams that turns a messy bill of materials into a buildable, repeatable supply chain. You upload a BOM (CSV from KiCad/Altium/Eagle or a spreadsheet), and it flags parts that are likely to derail a build: obsolete components, long lead times, single-source items, sketchy marketplace listings, and mismatched footprints/MPNs. It suggests vetted alternates and creates a “build snapshot” so anyone can reproduce the exact revision later. It also generates purchasing packs: distributor carts, substitution rules, and a clear “approved parts” list tied to a hardware release. This is not glamorous, but it targets the unsexy reason many open-hardware projects stall: sourcing chaos and silent part changes. The MVP focuses on electronics BOMs first; mechanical fasteners and 3D-print materials can follow.
