BootBench

BootBench is a web app (with a lightweight desktop/agent component) that continuously measures VM startup and readiness time across your virtualization estate. It runs scheduled “boot probes” on templates and golden images, then times key milestones: power-on, OS reachable, cloud-init completion, domain join, and service health checks. Results are trended over time and correlated with recent changes (hypervisor updates, image patches, storage latency spikes, GPO changes). The goal is to catch slow boots and broken provisioning early—before they become ticket storms or failed autoscaling events. It’s not a full monitoring suite; it focuses narrowly on the boot/provisioning path where many teams lack clear, comparable metrics. Expect some setup friction (agents/credentials), but once configured it becomes a simple, repeatable performance gate for image releases and platform changes.
