BootStrapX
BootStrapX is a web app (with optional CLI) that builds, tests, and continuously refreshes “golden” VM images for IaaS (AWS AMIs, Azure Managed Images, GCP images). Teams define a baseline (CIS hardening, required agents, packages, configs), and BootStrapX produces versioned images, runs automated smoke tests, and publishes them to approved accounts/projects. It then watches upstream OS releases and critical CVEs and triggers rebuilds, notifying owners when a new image is ready and what changed. The product focuses on the unglamorous reality: most orgs don’t patch fleets well, but they can standardize new instances. It integrates with Terraform/CloudFormation to enforce image usage, and provides audit-ready evidence (who built what, when, with which patches). It’s not magic; it reduces drift by shifting patching left into image pipelines.
