BriefTrail is a web app (with a lightweight browser extension) that helps people find, capture, and justify information for decisions. Instead of “search and forget,” it builds a structured trail: query, sources, key claims, evidence strength, and a final recommendation. Users clip passages from the web, PDFs, and internal docs, then the AI summarizes each clip into claims with citations and flags missing counterpoints. A “confidence meter” is computed from source type, recency, corroboration, and user-defined criteria (e.g., peer-reviewed only). The output is a shareable one-page brief and an audit log that shows exactly where each statement came from. This is not a general chatbot; it’s a workflow tool for information seeking that reduces time wasted re-finding sources and arguing about “where did that come from?”
