BudgetBallot

BudgetBallot is a web app (with an optional mobile-friendly voter portal) for cities and nonprofits running participatory budgeting. It centralizes idea intake, eligibility checks, proposal refinement, and voting—then produces an audit-ready results package. The AI layer helps staff cluster duplicate ideas, draft plain-language summaries, translate content, and flag likely ineligible proposals based on local rules (with human review required). The product is designed for the unglamorous reality: limited staff, messy data, public records requests, and political scrutiny. It includes a transparent public dashboard that shows where proposals are in the pipeline, what rules were applied, and how votes were counted. The goal isn’t “more engagement”; it’s fewer process failures, fewer accusations of rigging, and faster cycles from intake to funded projects.
