BusSignal

BusSignal is a mobile + web app that tells riders whether a bus/train arrival time is trustworthy right now—not just what the agency claims. It combines official GTFS-realtime feeds with passive rider signals (opt-in, anonymized GPS pings while waiting/onboard) to detect common failures: “ghost buses,” vehicles stuck in traffic but still shown as moving, and trips that were silently canceled. Riders see a simple confidence meter per arrival (High/Medium/Low), a live map when available, and an alert when the app believes the vehicle won’t actually show. For agencies and operators, BusSignal offers a lightweight dashboard highlighting routes/stops with chronic reliability gaps and feed anomalies, helping prioritize fixes without a full ITS overhaul. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional real-time tracking plus anomaly detection models that learn each route’s normal behavior and flag deviations.
