BycatchBuddy

BycatchBuddy is a mobile + web app for commercial fishing operators to log sea turtle bycatch interactions quickly, generate regulator-ready reports, and prove compliance with turtle-safe practices. Captains can capture the essentials offline (time, GPS, gear type, photos, release condition), then sync when back in coverage. The web dashboard lets fleet managers and compliance officers review logs, flag missing fields, and export to the exact formats required by local agencies or certification programs. An AI-assisted form filler reads photos and voice notes to prefill fields (species guess, injury indicators, hook type), but always requires human confirmation to avoid bad data. This is not a consumer “save turtles” app; it’s a boring compliance tool that saves hours, reduces fines, and creates an auditable trail. Pricing is per vessel per month with optional enterprise fleet controls.
