BycatchBuddy is a mobile + web app that helps small and mid-size seafood buyers verify and document low-bycatch sourcing without hiring a full compliance team. Fishers or processors upload trip-level proof (photos of gear, logbook snapshots, landing receipts, observer notes if available). The app converts messy evidence into a standardized “Bycatch Risk Packet” per lot, with a simple score, traceable attachments, and a shareable link for restaurants, retailers, and distributors. It also nudges users toward better practices by flagging missing documentation and suggesting what to capture next trip. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI is used to extract structured data from documents/images and to generate consistent summaries, but the core value is workflow, audit trails, and buyer-facing proof. It’s realistic: it won’t ‘guarantee sustainability’—it just makes verification cheaper and faster.
