BycatchLog is a mobile + web app for small-to-mid commercial fishing crews to record bycatch and protected-species interactions quickly and credibly. Crews log haul details, gear type, location (auto-captured), photos/video, and release condition in under a minute, even offline. The app generates audit-ready reports for buyers, certifiers, and regulators, and can share a “clean-catch” summary with seafood purchasers who increasingly demand traceability. This is not a feel-good citizen-science tool; it’s compliance and market-access software. The hard truth: many fishers won’t adopt anything that slows work or feels like surveillance, so the product must be faster than paper, work without signal, and provide immediate value (fewer disputes, smoother audits, better pricing opportunities). Monetization is straightforward: per-vessel subscriptions plus paid reporting/export packages for processors and co-ops.
