CalfGuard

CalfGuard is a mobile + web AI app for early detection and triage of calf illness in dairy and beef operations. Farm staff snap short videos of calves during feeding or pen checks; the app analyzes posture, breathing rate cues, nasal/eye discharge visibility, and activity level to generate a simple risk score and recommended next steps (isolate, temp check, electrolytes, call vet). It also logs treatments, withdrawal times, and pen-level trends so managers can spot outbreaks early. The goal is not to replace a vet—it's to reduce missed cases and standardize decisions across employees with varying experience. Realistically, accuracy will be “good enough” only with consistent lighting/angles and a training period, but even modest improvements can reduce mortality, labor waste, and antibiotic overuse. Works offline-first with sync when connectivity returns.
