CephScope

CephScope is a mobile + web AI app that helps divers, underwater photographers, and citizen scientists log octopus, squid, and cuttlefish sightings without tedious manual note-taking. Users upload short clips or photos from dives; the app auto-detects cephalopods, suggests likely species (with confidence), and extracts key metadata like timestamp, depth (if available), and approximate location. It then generates a clean sighting record you can export to CSV or share with local research groups. The reality: species-level ID is hard and the AI will be wrong sometimes—so the workflow is built around “suggest + verify,” not blind automation. The MVP focuses on a few common, high-signal species and regions to keep accuracy acceptable. Monetization is straightforward: a freemium tier for casual users and paid plans for dive shops, tour operators, and research projects that need structured logs.
