CertiScan
CertiScan is a mobile + web app that lets shoppers scan a product barcode and instantly see whether its “organic” claim is actually backed by a valid certification and who certified it. It pulls from public certifier registries where available, flags missing/expired certificates, and shows a plain-English risk rating (e.g., “Certified by USDA-accredited body” vs “Marketing claim only”). Users can set alerts for brands they buy, report suspicious labels, and save a trusted list of products. Brands and retailers can claim profiles and upload documentation, but the app clearly labels self-submitted data versus independently verified sources. This is not a magic truth machine: coverage will be incomplete at first, and some regions have messy data. The value is reducing obvious greenwashing and making verification fast enough to matter at the shelf.
