ChargeSplit

ChargeSplit is a mobile + web app for households and small teams sharing a plug-in hybrid who constantly argue about “who used the battery” and “who should pay for charging.” It tracks charging sessions and estimates electric miles vs gas miles per driver, then generates a simple monthly settlement. Users connect the car via supported OEM accounts (where available) or use a low-friction fallback: a $20 Bluetooth OBD-II dongle plus phone GPS to infer EV vs ICE driving. The app supports multiple drivers, multiple home chargers, and variable electricity rates (time-of-use) so the math is actually fair. It exports to Venmo/PayPal requests and keeps an audit trail to reduce disputes. This is not glamorous, but it solves a real recurring friction point for shared PHEVs—especially in apartments, families with teens, and small businesses with pool vehicles.
