CheckInChain is a mobile + web app that creates a verifiable chain-of-custody for child pickup and drop-off across schools, daycares, after-school programs, and shared-custody families. Instead of paper lists and last-minute texts, guardians pre-authorize pickup people, set time windows, and require a secure check-in at handoff (QR code + photo + optional ID scan). Staff or the receiving adult confirms the transfer, generating a timestamped record and instant notifications to all approved guardians. It also supports “one-time passes” for grandparents, babysitters, or neighbors with automatic expiration. This is not a magic safety shield—bad actors can still lie—but it reduces the most common failures: miscommunication, outdated authorization lists, and lack of documentation when disputes happen. Schools can run it as a lightweight kiosk mode on a tablet, while parents use their phones.
