ChirpRoute

ChirpRoute is a mobile + web app that helps birders plan high-probability outings instead of wandering and hoping. It combines recent public sightings, habitat/seasonality, weather, time-of-day patterns, and your personal target list to generate a practical route: where to go, when to arrive, and what species you’re likely to see. The app focuses on “actionable planning” rather than just logging or ID. Users can set goals (e.g., “shorebirds within 30 miles” or “3 new lifers this month”), and ChirpRoute suggests a short itinerary with backup spots if conditions change. It also includes a lightweight field checklist and offline maps for poor reception. The AI component is used for probability ranking and itinerary generation, not for replacing expert ID communities. Realistically, this wins only if it saves time and increases sightings per trip.
