CiteAudit
CiteAudit is a web app (with a lightweight Word/Google Docs add-on) that automatically audits a manuscript’s references and in-text citations for common, costly mistakes: missing DOIs, broken URLs, retracted papers, mismatched author-year pairs, inconsistent journal abbreviations, and references cited but not listed (and vice versa). It also flags “citation laundering” patterns (over-citing a small clique), detects likely wrong-paper citations via title/abstract mismatch, and generates a clean report you can attach to internal lab review. This is an AI + traditional app: deterministic checks for structure/metadata, plus AI for semantic mismatch detection. Brutal truth: most researchers don’t want another writing tool, but they do hate desk rejections, reviewer nitpicks, and embarrassing retraction citations. The app wins by being a narrow, high-confidence QA layer rather than a full writing assistant.
