CiteAudit

CiteAudit is a web + desktop companion app that stress-tests the reference section and in-text citations of a manuscript before submission. It imports a Word/LaTeX manuscript and a BibTeX/RIS library, then runs deterministic checks (missing DOIs, broken URLs, mismatched year/author, duplicate entries, inconsistent journal abbreviations, uncited references, and claims like “et al.” misuse). An optional AI layer flags suspicious or low-confidence citations (e.g., citation doesn’t support the sentence, retracted papers, predatory venues) and suggests safer alternatives with transparent sources. The output is a reviewer-style report with fix-it actions and exportable patches for Zotero/Mendeley/BibTeX. This is not a magical “write my paper” tool; it’s a quality-control gate that saves hours of manual cross-checking and reduces desk rejections caused by sloppy referencing.
