CiteGuard

CiteGuard is a web app (with a Word/Google Docs add-on later) that audits citations and reference lists for accuracy, completeness, and traceability. Users upload a manuscript (DOCX, LaTeX/BibTeX, or RIS) and the app checks every in-text citation against the bibliography, flags missing/unused references, detects inconsistent metadata (author/year/title), and verifies DOIs/PMIDs/URLs by resolving them against Crossref and PubMed. It also highlights “risky” references: retracted papers, predatory journals, or links that 404. The output is a reviewer-friendly report plus one-click fixes (export corrected BibTeX/RIS, generate a clean reference list in a chosen style). This is not a full reference manager; it’s a QA layer that sits on top of Zotero/Mendeley/EndNote workflows and catches embarrassing, time-wasting errors right before submission.
