CiteTrace
CiteTrace is a web app (with a lightweight browser extension) that continuously audits the references in your manuscripts, preprints, and lab docs. It flags dead links, retracted papers, major corrections, mismatched DOIs, and “citation drift” where a cited claim no longer matches the current version of record. You upload a DOCX/PDF or connect Overleaf/Google Drive; CiteTrace extracts references, resolves them against Crossref/OpenAlex, and monitors them over time. When something changes, it produces a short, actionable report: what changed, severity, suggested replacement sources, and a clean patch list you can apply before submission or during revisions. This is not a magic writing tool; it’s a reliability and compliance layer that saves researchers from embarrassing reviewer comments and post-publication fixes. It’s especially valuable for systematic reviews and fast-moving fields where retractions and updates are common.
