CiteTrace
CiteTrace is a web app (with optional desktop connector) that continuously audits institutional repositories and digital libraries for citation rot: dead links, moved datasets, missing DOIs, and inaccessible supplementary files. It crawls item records, resolves outbound identifiers (DOI, Handle, arXiv, PubMed, GitHub releases), and flags failures with evidence, timestamps, and suggested fixes. An AI-assisted mode drafts replacement links, recommends persistent identifiers, and generates outreach emails to authors or publishers, but humans approve changes. The product focuses on practical workflows: ticketing integration, batch exports, and “fix status” dashboards for librarians. It’s not a magical preservation solution—if content is gone, it can’t resurrect it—but it will drastically reduce the time staff spend discovering problems and documenting remediation. Pricing is per repository size, with a free tier for small collections.
