CivicBench

CivicBench is a web app (with optional mobile viewer) that turns messy municipal performance data into a comparable, defensible dashboard. Instead of only showing internal KPIs, it focuses on peer benchmarking: pick a city/county, select a service area (311 response, permitting, pothole repair, inspections, budget burn), and instantly compare to similar jurisdictions using normalized metrics (per capita, per lane-mile, per permit type, seasonality). It ingests open data portals, spreadsheets, and basic API feeds, then flags data quality issues (missing fields, inconsistent definitions) before publishing. The product is brutally practical: it helps managers answer “Are we improving?” and “Compared to whom?” without weeks of analyst time. It includes public-facing views for transparency and internal views with drill-downs, notes, and ownership so departments can act, not just report.
