CivicsLens

CivicsLens is a mobile + web AI-assisted civic education app that turns confusing local and national government topics into short, verified learning paths tied to real-world impact. Users pick their city/state and interests (housing, schools, policing, taxes), then get bite-sized explainers on how decisions are made, who has authority, and what the tradeoffs are. Each lesson links to primary sources (meeting agendas, bills, budgets) with a “What this means” summary and a confidence/uncertainty note. It also includes a “Spot the Spin” module that teaches media literacy using side-by-side framing examples from multiple outlets, without pretending to be neutral—sources and assumptions are explicit. The app avoids partisan quizzes and focuses on process literacy: how to verify claims, how to contact officials, and how to track a policy from proposal to vote. Monetization is realistic: school/district licensing and nonprofit/city partnerships, not consumer subscriptions at scale.
